I Want To Be Diabolik

I am a huge fan of the movie Danger: Diabolik. John Phillip Law is so awesome as Diabolik, while Marisa Mell is so sexy as Eva Kant. I wanted to be Diabolik from the first time I saw this movie. He's got it all - a hot babe girlfriend, lots of cash & other treasures, a hip pad, a cool car, etc. Now that's the life!

What an awesome couple they made! Bava had such an incredible sense of style.

I've got a special fondness for this movie. My friend Carlos Aguilar and his wife Anita Haas wrote a truly amazing book about, and with, the active cooperation of John Philip Law before his premature death early last year.

I've been in love with Marisa Mel for forever... (and so was John, and so was Carlos!) Great Post Keith!!

Hey Rev. Thanks for the comments. I totally agree. I love these two. Bava did such a cool job all around with this movie.

I love this film as well, definitely in my top 3 fave Bava films. The look of this film is something else -- the costumes, the sets, etc. Great stuff. I also love how the Beastie Boys paid tribute to it in their video for "Body Movin'"

Hey Chick. Thanks so much. I appreciate the comments. That's so cool that your friend Carlos wrote such a book. I love this movie. I've been a big fan of it from the first time I saw it. I always wanted to be John and be up with Marisa. Glad you enjoyed my post.

Thanks PTA. Glad to see another fan.

Hey J.D. Thanks for the comments. Glad to see you're a fan. I really dig this movie. It's got so much going for it. I love the cast. The cool sets, etc. really are out of sight. They add so much to the movie. I always wanted a pad like Diabolik's. Plus you gotta love the car.

I love this movie myself for all the reasons listed so far. The movie in it is also cool. I saw this movie first as a teenager. I wanted to be Eva. I love my husband, but he's not exactly living a Diabolik life. :-)

I've added it to my Netflix queue. Looks pretty killer, except when the Jag went over the cliff. That broke my heart.

Hey Phoebe. Thanks for the comments. I knew we had talked about this movie. I doubt there are many of us guys like a life like Diabolik. lol

Hey Robert. Thanks for the comments. That's cool that you added this to your queue. I hope you like it. I'm sure you will.

Well spotted JD the BBs parodied this perfectly in Body Movin' - I must check the movie out...

Yeah, I did think it was really cool about the Beastie Boys. I had pretty much forgotten about that until J.D. mentioned it.

Who could forget the movie's iconic theme song, "Deep Deep Down" it has that great 60's beat!

"Maledetto!!!": Diabolik would say for these terrific pictures of the movie "Danger: Diabolik!". You can see that Marisa Mell and John Phillip Law were a love item during the production of this movie! Just by looking at them on the screen, you can feel and see the sparks flying between them! Waow!

Can't believe I've never seen it... thank you for the recommendation!

Great post and great movie. One of my favorites from Mario Bava. The hide-out pad is breath taking (as is Marisa Mel) and kinda trumps the Bat-Cave for coolness.

Hey jbfunky. I know what you mean. The music was definitely one of the coolest things about this movie.

Hey Mirko. Thanks for the comments. I knew you would enjoy this post. I had been wanting to post some pictures from this movie for quite some time. These two make such a great couple on and off screen. Cheers!

Hey Scott. Thanks. I love this movie so much. It's definitely one of my favorite films by Bava. The pad and car are so awesome. I definitely want both of them. I want Marisa as well. Diabolik is one lucky fella.
