Lui Magazine Covers
Lui is a men's magazine from France. It was started in November of 1963 by Daniel Filipacchi, a fashion photographer who wanted to publish an adult entertainment magazine with a French flair. It was actually a pretty successful magazine for the first twenty years or so. It even featured such popular actresses as Brigitte Bardot and Marisa Mell. Here are some covers throughout the years. Never heard of 'Lui' before, but such cool covers... thank you for sharing dear Keith!
"Lui" was one of the few magazines in Europe to go directly in competition with the American Playboy and succeeded quite well in achieving that goal! The difference with Playboy was that European actresses like Marisa Mell, Brigitte Bardot... were much more sexually liberated in the mid' 60's and 70's than their American counterparts so they had no problem to go fully nude in the magazine while the American did not! This was one of the appeals of this magazine for its readers! Great covers!
I've never heard of this mag but those are nice covers.
