I am a big fan of the spy novels of the 1970's. One of my favorite series is The Baroness by Paul Kenyon. I believe there were only around eight books in this particular franchise. The main character is Baroness Penelope St. John-Orsini. She lives a hedonistic lifestyle among the international jet set crowd. She is secretly a spy always on a new adventure to save the world. She uses a modeling agency as her cover. These books mix action, sex & so much more to entice their readers. Here are a few of the covers. I hope you enjoy them.

Keith your blogs are always stellar, but this is my favorite so far! Not familiar with this series or writer, but they sound intriguing and those covers are the best. Thanks for posting a bunch of 'em.
Never heard of this PB-series! Have to check it out! Looks a lot of fun!

Neat book covers Keith - if they made a movie of these books who do you think should get the part?
Glenn Bishop
there's a touch of Modesty Blaise about those pics
Hey Scott. Thanks. I appreciate that. I'm really glad you enjoyed this particular one. I've only read one of these books, but I loved it. I want to get my hands on more of them. The covers and the books themselves are really cool. It was fun posting some of the covers.
Hey Mirko. Thanks for the comments. There weren't that many of these books so it wasn't a series that lasted for years. I've read one of them and it was a fun read. Cheers!
Hey Glenn. Thanks for the comments. I would love to see a movie based on these books. I'm not sure what actress I would like to see play her. They would probably hire someone like Angelina Jolie. Cheers!
Hey Wolfmen. Thanks for the comments. I agree with you on that. Cheers!
Just wanted to give a thumbs up to this post. Don't know anything about The Baroness, but I can tell I'd love it.
Hey Gil. Thanks. Glad you liked these covers. I've only read one of these books, but I really enjoyed it. I'm sure it's right up your alley.
My husband has read a couple of these. They can be hard to find. I know he liked them very much. I wonder why. :-)
Hey Phoebe. I wonder why too. lol The one I read was really cool and sexy. I'd like to read some more of them. Cheers!
These are great. I love the paperback covers of the 50's, 60's and early 70's. I really hate paperback cover anymore. The old sci-fi and western covers were works of art. Not they sometimes just use a photograph. They also now like to emboss some part of the cover or raise, like the fang of a vampire you know. Corny. These are well done. I remember the old Doc Savage covers by Bama... masterpieces.
Hey Bill. Thanks for the great comments. I appreciate them. I'm glad you enjoyed these covers. The paperbacks of this era were so amazing. Even if the material inside wasn't all that good, the covers were awesome. I did enjoy many of the books in and of themselves. These were like albums. Back then there was some thought put into making the cover. It could be quite the work of art. Now it's just a photo or something stuck up there.
I'm glad that other readers also love the Baroness series. I have dedicated a yahoo group to discuss this wonderful series. The discussion group talks about the unpublished manuscripts, the author behind the series, the pros and cons of the series, etc. Hope you could visit our group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheBaroness/
Hey karatecha. Thanks for the comment. It was nice hearing from you. I love the Baroness. Those are some really cool books. I'll have to check out that group of yours. Cheers!
