I am a huge fan of the campy Valley of the Dolls. The 1966 novel by Jacqueline Susann is one of my favorite trashy reads. I also love the 1967 movie starring Barbara Parkins, Sharon Tate & Patty Duke. The dolls in the title refer to drugs for those that have never read the book or seen the movie. I highly recommend both. The story deals with these three younger women as they pursue love and their careers. Each of them become dependent in some form or fashion on drugs. The story is full of a lot of ups and downs. It's definitely a camp classic. I'm sure some of you have bound to have seen it, right?

Of course, where S. Tate is concerned, it really doesn't matter what movie she's in, I'll love it.
I've never seen or heard of the movie or book but it sounds awesome and I'm very interested in checking it out after reading this post.

totally saw that movie. with my mom no less when i was 13 years old. she thought i'd get bored but i remember liking it.
she has the book too. maybe i'll swipe it from her shelf next time i visit.
Valley of the Dolls epitomizes Sixties fashion, with stunning actresses and witty dialogue to boot. It's a shame that Beyond the Valley of the Dolls exceeds it's reputation, strictly because it's a lot more raunchy. A classic! xo.
This is my FAVORITE book ever! Love it! Nothing compares to it.

I've never seen it, I really should - although Generation X (featuring a young Billy Idol) did a great single in the late seventies called Valley of the Dolls. It was on disgusting coloured vinyl though..
I haven't seen this in ages, but I loved it when I did. Great direction and cast. And I loved the book. The remake (or 'newer' version) on the other hand I could have lived without.
